There are a few different modes of transport you can take when holidaying in Madrid. With extra wide boardwalks it is ideal for walking travellers who want to take in the sights. To cover more ground quickly, you can take the Madrid Metro, the underground train system or simply take a bus. With buses running 24 hours a day, you are able to get around for less, even late at night.

Best time to visit
The best time to visit will also depend on what you want to get out of your trip and the weather conditions you like best. The heat arrives in June and that’s when the city comes alive and restaurants and bars are overflowing well into the early hours.

Madrid has so many wonderful festivals so you may want to consider travelling during one of them.

The month long Fiestas de San Isidro, honouring the patron saint of Madrid is one of the cities biggest festivals and begins on May 15th.

From the 6th to the 15th of August the Fiestas de San Lorenzo, San Cayetano and the Virgen de la Paloma are commemorated with concerts, dancing and other festivities.
