I think it would be fair to say that any location you choose to visit in Syria would be considered exotic in most people’s experience. Because Syria, and even the Middle East is not a hugely popular travel destination, the sites and sounds of many of these countries can provide a wonderful, exciting experience.

If you’re an intrepid traveller and have decided to explore Syria, there are a few things to be aware of before you go.

Check the Australian Government’s website, The Department for Foreign Affairs and Travel (DFAT) and read what they list for travel warnings in this country. They mention that travellers should take a high degree of caution due to terrorist activity and an unpredictable political environment. Australia does not have an embassy in Syria, but if you stay away from public protests and any obvious trouble, then you are likely to be just fine. It would be best to take out some travel insurance on a trip to Syria.
